Change sign

While career transition might seem like mythical or often made up stories, with the exception of  a few that feel like lucky streaks. It is quite a usual thing in today’s world. Today I’ll share one of the stories shared by one of our client's

A career transition that gained my attention, Jordan, who transitioned from a marketing professional to a mental health advocate. Jordan whom, I can’t share more details about, shares this passionate journey on call one day. While we are ironing out some areas in his career, I found this quite intriguing.

Jordan started his career in social media marketing a few years back when he decided to travel the world and share his trip. In this social media and digital era, he shared his journey on his social media channels and on there he quite literally witnessed what his journey did for people- inspiring and uplifting people. He was quite intentionally with what he posted and fell in love with all aspects of it.

With this short story, here is a list of the notable transferable skills:

1. Communication and Media Relations: Jordan’s ability to effectively communicate his story and engage on social media played a crucial role in his viral fame. This skill translated into his new career by allowing him to advocate for mental health awareness and share his personal experiences.

2. Empathy and Listening: Transitioning from marketing to mental health advocacy requires empathy and active listening, which Jordan demonstrated through his openness about his own struggles and his commitment to supporting others facing mental health challenges.

3. Networking: His experience in marketing gave him a strong foundation in networking, and he leveraged these skills to connect with mental health organizations, professionals, and individuals who shared his passion for advocacy.

4. Resourcefulness and Creativity: The creative approach he took in his initial viral endeavor highlighted his resourcefulness. This creativity continued to be a valuable asset in raising awareness about mental health in innovative ways.
